About Red Nose Australia

Red Nose is one of Australia’s most well-loved and respected charities. Red Nose has been supporting Aussie families for over 40 years – helping to save little lives and support grieving families.

Red Nose was founded in 1977 by bereaved parents who wanted to make sure the devastating impact of the death of their children from SIDS, never happened to anyone else. Now, Red Nose continues to fund lifesaving research, delivers education to new families to help keep their babies safe and provides 24/7 support for anyone affected by pregnancy loss, stillbirth, baby or child death.  

Red Nose has contributed to a significant reduction of infant deaths in Australia. The rate of SIDS has reduced by 80% in Australia since their work began. That’s over 12,000 little Aussie lives saved.

But there is still more to do.

Sadly, every year in Australia more than 3,000 babies and children die suddenly and unexpectedly from stillbirth, SIDS, SUDC and other causes. That’s nine deaths every day. It is also estimated that one in four pregnancies end in miscarriage.

Supporting Red Nose means that can continue to provide around-the-clock support services for grief-stricken families as well as education programs for new parents to help keep their babies safe. Funds will also go towards research to further determine the causes of SIDS and stillbirth in a bid to prevent as many tragedies as possible.
